Srila Sridhara Maharaja Ki Jai!

New and updated transcripts for the Srila Sridhara Maharaja Media Archive

Introduction

A few weeks ago we were blessed to receive, from Sriman Paramananda Prabhu (UK), 150 transcripts of Srila Sridhara Maharaja’s audio recordings. His email, notifying me of this auspicious presentation, along with my reply, are attached below.

Most of the transcripts I received are corrected forms of transcripts previously submitted by him and posted on our website. Others are new transcripts. All of them have now been presented in a universal type font making the characters with diacritics much more portable, as they can now be easily converted into a great number of fonts for use in a wide number of digital and print formats and devices.

I forwarded the new files to Sriman Gokulananda, who serves as our devoted webmaster, so that the updated files can be replaced with the Read More...

A recent email sent to Srila Giri Maharaja –

Dear Srila Bhakti Kanan Giri Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

Jai Srila Gurudeva!

Speaking of whom, did you intentionally avoid posting a notice of our observance today (now yesterday) of his disappearance?

To my shame I forgot to post it.

Lilavati Devi reminded me I hadn’t posted it but by then the day was almost over.

I checked if I had posted last year’s observance but it seems I had not done that either.

I am thinking that as well as a bad memory I have a mental block as I do not find it a happy day to remember.

I remarked to Lilavati Devi that I remember it as the day the world went mad and when the good sense, reason and sobriety of prominent devotees who were ordered by the spiritual master to become acharyas was lost due to the influence of illusion Read More...

“Na Hi Gopyaṁ Hi Sadhūnāṁ – Certainly, No Secrets are to be Kept by Saintly Personalities”

An email from Srila Bhakti Kanan Giri Maharaja to Uddharan dasa –

Dear Sriman Uddharan dasa Adhikari,

Please accept my humble obeisances in remembrance of our Divine Masters.

I hope you will post your excellent email to Sripada Paribrajaka Maharaja, with or without his name. I lean in the direction of including his name because: 1. He is a sannyasi and a guru. As such, his is supposed to be a public life and he should not expect too much in the way of “secrecy”. “na hi gopyaṁ hi sadhūnāṁ— Certainly, no secrets are to be kept by saintly personalities… ”

Vyasa Puja Offering From Gokulananda das

Dear Srila Bhakti Kanan Giri Maharaja,

Dandavat pranams on the day of your appearance.

Srila Govinda Maharaja once said:

Everything depends on the mood of the devotee. Someone may go for collection, someone else may cook, another may clean, but everything depends on the individual’s mood whether it will be karma or bhakti. If someone will follow his Guru’s instructions in a surrendered mood, it will be bhakti, otherwise it will be pious karma. If anyone will follow the instructions of the Scriptures and Guru he will always receive a good result, but that is not necessarily bhakti. It is a big difficulty for everyone if they are not conscious of their purpose. Srila Guru Maharaja always emphasized the word ‘consciousness’-everything is living within Read More...

Vyasa Puja offering from Uddharan dasa & Lilavati Devi dasi

Dear Sripad Bhakti Kanan Giri Maharaja,

Please accept our humble obeisances on this most auspicious day of your appearance in this world.

Rather than any fasting, I will be more pleased if sumptuous prasadam is made available for distribution to all my disciples and friends beginning from eight o’clock in the morning. As told to me by Srila Govinda Maharaja, this was the ideal shown by Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakura when celebrating the appearance days of Srila Bhakti Vinoda Thakura. I will be very happy if my disciples and friends follow the same.—Swami B.K. Giri

We liked this idea very much and followed it as much as possible by us. See below.

Srimati Lilavati Devi made the rice (a mix of 3 types), dahl, and chutney and I made the subji and halavah.

All was made Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja “The Situation: Part Three”

Prologue

During the last few months I have been contacted by a number of devotees from Russia, Ukraine and other parts of the world who are expressing great distress, concern and doubt with regard to what I call “SCSM IAB”, the portion of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math that is operating under the direction of present or past members of the International Acharya Board (long since rebranded as simply “Acharya Board”).

I have responded personally to these devotees and attempted to allay their doubts and fears, often referring to Srila Sridhara Maharaja’s use of: na hi kalyana-krt kascid durgatim tata gacchati, as in this example—

We need society only to help us. If our affinity to the society keeps us down, then that should be given up, and we must march on. There is the absolute Read More...
