"Last Appeal to Sripad Bhakti Sudhir Goswami"

The following letter was offered for publication by Sriman Jayanta Krishna Prabhu. May 13, 2011 Dear Goswami Maharaja: Please Maharaja don't take any offense from my writing, I hope this will not diminish our friendship. I hope we can still embrace each other when we meet. I have nothing, the mercy of the Vaisnavas like you is everything to me and Srila Gurudeva is my only shelter. Nobody wants to diminish or take away your position as a stalwart Vaisnava in Srila Guru Maharaja’s mission in the West. Our recognition to you is eternal - as Srila Gurudeva wanted to be printed in the beginning of our books. Srila Gurudeva is God himself in human form, he knew English very well after 26 world tours. What he signed, he was very well aware of, and. what he signed - that is law for us. You may know that one of the cases that the anti-party is making in Court is the lie that Srila Gurudeva was not in a sound frame of mind - he was sick and deceived by those who were surrounding him when he wrote the Will. If you are not going to do exactly what the Will says, composing an Acharya sabha of initiating Acharyas as soon as possible, you are doing a favor to the opposition - amongst all other dangers that can derive from it. The Will, more than the video, is your only weapon to fight with them, but now you are degrading it, weakening it, by not doing what is written there with the excuse that you were there and that you know more than the Will itself, interpreting it and modifying it in a way that comes to your favor to be included as an initiating Acharya. You can't tell the Judge that only you actually know what the Will means. Then the Judge will not take the Will very seriously. When an inheritance is written in a Will and the heirs are called by the lawyer, or the notary, who wrote the Will, to read the Will in front of them, what the notary says in his own words is irrelevant - what is all important is what is the desire expressed in that Will. You can throw that paper dated March 7, 2010 that you sent me with the International Acharya Board, previously made of 5 members, in the garbage with all the missing pages (if you have them) instead of using it to cheat the devotees of our mission. That is why people leave a “Last Will and a Testament” before they depart from this world. The Will is supreme and supersedes all other documents written before, and this is written right there on the very top of Gurudeva's Will: "Swami B.S. Govinda, G.S. Vidyaranjan, Gourendu Brahmachari, Dharmadas Chatterjee) presently residing at 491 Dum Dum Park, Kolkata 700055, declare and state that this is my last Will, notwithstanding any Will made by me at any previous time. I revoke all Wills and Codicils that I have previously made. I declare that after my demise:" This is another case put forward by the anti-party: "there were other documents before the last Will that included them that were made to disappear." Their lawyers are pushing on this matter like crazy. If you take in consideration any other documents memo or codicils that have no value at all now, like you are doing now with that paper dated March 7, 2010, so that you can be in the show, you are indirectly, unconsciously, doing a big favor to the anti-party. Let me start with a question: if you are saying in the letter written to me that the Acharya board dictated in the Will is so casual and you suggested it at the last moment, by taking it from a tape of Srila Guru Maharaja, how is that Srila Gurudeva took time to mention everyone’s name, praise them and assign them the place of service and Math? That means that he pondered on the subject. It is very clear that he wanted things to be like that, and that is how it has to be. It is far from being an insignificant matter as you are trying to make us believe. In your letter, while you are trying to diminish this very important subject matter, suddenly you switch my attention from that point in Gurudeva’s last Will, to the previously written International Acharya Board of 5 where you are included. Like you want me to believe that they are the same thing. Why are you doing this? If Srila Gurudeva wanted that initiating Acharya Sabha to be formed that is how it has to be. Like in an orchestra, if you are taking away a musician and replacing him with someone that you want, but is not recognized by the conductor, who is leading the orchestra, or if you are playing your own way to show how good you are without following the direction of the conductor, a chaotic sound is the outcome rather than a Symphony. Maybe you or others are not seeing this as the main cause of the trouble we are in, being blinded by personal motivation. So this is what it comes to, a lost inheritance, a crying, a repentance for not having accepted the offer from Srila Gurudeva to become an initiating Acharya before he departed. You are going back with your time machine thirty years with Srila Guru Maharaja and ten years with Srila Gurudeva. Really, this is not the time to go back in the years recalling what Guru Maharaja and Gurudeva wanted you to do or to be. Why are you diverting your energy away from the fight with the opposition? How is that going to help now? I have no objection in you becoming an initiating Spiritual Master at all, but that also has to be sanctioned at this time by the Acharya Sabha who “shall give all spiritual guidance" that unfortunately has not been formed yet. But the main point is that now is not the time to say: "what’s in it for me?" As you said at the end of your letter - let us stay focused. I am very humbly requesting you to value your patience, maturity and experience in this critical time. Please make amends with Giri Maharaja - resolve the matter in the light of Srila Gurudeva's Will. He is doing what Srila Gurudeva told all the initiating Acharyas to do, he is not acting on his own. He is acting in the service of Srila Gurudeva. Dear Sripad Bhakti Sudhir Goswami Maharaja I hope you will reconcile with him and start moving in unison as a united mission. Please inspire me with your example that you understood the constant reminding of Srila Gurudeva to us of the third verse of Sri Siksasthakam as our only way to practice. Very low and unqualified, Jayanta Krishna dasa
Author’s Note: Since writing this letter some 8 months ago, I now object to Goswami Maharaja becoming an initiating Acharya, as he has proven to be a dishonest man. "Honest is one who is ready to adjust his own ideas to the reality of things. Dishonest is one who tries to adjust the reality of things to his own ideas." |
