Srila Giri Maharaja – “A type of seed”

Date: 2/21/18

Dear Srimati Lilavati Devi dasi,

Please accept my humble obeisances.

I’m both surprised and very unfit to receive your donation and will have to consult with Uddharan prabhu on how to use this sum of money, especially as our preaching front is non existent! — Srimati Lilavati Devi, email dated 2/20/18

These are also my feelings and thoughts whenever I receive a donation for the service of our Divine Masters. But it is not fully correct to think in this way. If, during Srila Gurudeva’s lifetime, I was passing through England and gave you fifty dollars and asked you to please give it to Srila Gurudeva when he next visits London, I doubt you would feel such shyness. It is not so much money. So, even if you lost it before you were able to deliver it to His Divine Grace, Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja – “History Recycled/Pride and Prejudice”

My dear friends,

Please accept my humble dandavat pranamas.

When my grandparents were young and listened to the radio they turned it on, waited for the tubes to warm up and then heard what was being broadcast.

When I was young and got my first transistor radio, I turned it on and immediately heard the broadcast.

When our children listen to a broadcast, they “A”, turn on some device, then “B”, wait for a connection to be established to a network. After that they “C”, wait for a download to begin. After that, they wait for “D”, the “buffering” to complete and then “E”, listen to the content they’ve selected. If they decide to change sources they repeat B through E.

I believe it was in the 80’s (three decades ago) that I began hearing that advancements Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja – A “truly horrific mistake.”

(A brief curriculum vitae of Mr. Deace may be found here: “Gorillas Also Have Souls”)

Date: 1/28/18

Dear Mr. Deace,

At the very beginning of your Podcast Ep217 which you call “Theology Thursday” you corrected an error you made related to a mundane event (“the senate map”) in your remarks of the previous day (1/24/18). Addressing this you thanked Chris Gandolfo: “So, thank you for bringing that to my attention Chris… and that correction is duly noted. Cause that’s a pretty big mistake, obviously . . . And when we do make mistakes we kinda like to make our corrections at the outset of a show rather than fine print at the very end when nobody’s paying attention.”

What you called a “pretty big mistake” is insignificant in comparison to the theological Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja – A statement… “which could hardly be more false”

Date: 1/13/18

Dear Mr. Deace,

Please accept my warm greetings and well-wishes.

During CRTV episode 206, you spoke something untrue at 19-20 min. into the show. At that time you said this:

“The idea of a personal God, the idea of you having a personal relationship with him and you being made in his image, the imago Dei does not exist on planet earth outside of the Judeo Christian worldview and that is why you can find ways to syncretize every belief system except the Judeo Christian one because it is, shall we say, set apart from the rest of the world views on planet earth.”

I expect this statement of yours, which could hardly be more false, was an unintentional mistake. As such, I hope you will correct it very soon after reading the evidence of your mistake which I supply below.

Srila Giri Maharaja – “2018, an auspicious beginning.”

Date: January 1, 2018

Dear Sriman Suresh Durgam dasa,

Please accept my humble obeisances in remembrance of our Divine Masters.

By Srila Gurudeva’s grace we are pleased to acknowledge your service donation in the amount of $50.00. It is an auspicious beginning for the new year as it reminds us of our commitment to the seva of our Divine Masters; their devotees, Deities, Maths and Mission.

Almost immediately after my receiving sannyasa from Srila Sridhara Maharaja your kindness upon me helped me to further realize Krishna is our only true friend, protector and guide. He reveals Himself as such through His devotees, such as your good self, in ways as mysterious as that which introduced me to you and has kept us as long time friends. Now, thirty five years later, it is wonderful to see the Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja – “Open letter to Sripada B.N. Acharya Maharaja”

Date: 1/5/18

Dear Sripada Acharya Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances in remembrance of our Divine Masters.

Since the time of Srila Govinda Maharaja’s disappearance I have been very unhappy and disturbed to see the activities of those who opposed Srila Gurudeva’s decision naming you as his successor Sevaite President Acharya of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math, Navadwipa and the Indian group. I have some idea also, from considerable personal experience, how much you must have struggled to regain your rightful position.

Recently I was informed of an article written by Sriman Hasyapriya dasa which outlines a reconciliation between yourself, Sripada Paramahamsa Maharaja and others who had behaved very badly by opposing Srila Gurudeva’s direction with respect to the position (described Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja “Srila Gurudeva’s Biography (II)”

“It is not so easy to be a Shukadeva or a Krishna dasa.”

Date: 12/10/17

Dear Bhaktin Shylaja
C/O Srila Prabhupada Awareness team,

Please accept my humble obeisances in remembrance of my Divine Masters.

You wrote:

“We are a group of devotees from South India working with the objective to increase awareness and appreciation of Srila Prabhupada; through His biographies written by your god brothers or god sisters. You are certainly glorious for being one of the rare recipients of Srila Prabhupada’s nectarean association during his physical presence. . . . We started this project in mid-2012, where few of us got together and indexed more than 45 biographies written on Srila Prabhupada by various devotees. . . . we are trying to increase Prabhupada’s Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja – “Sex, and other confusions”

Email to: Steve Deace
Date: 11/25/17
Subject: You seem confused.

Dear Steve Deace,

Please accept my warm greetings and regards.

During one of your recent podcasts you were speaking on some point of Christian theology and said something like this: “I am not a theologian so my opinion may not represent the faith.” This seems an odd statement when only a week or so before you were celebrating Luther and the reformation for their liberation of the masses (people) from the authoritarian hierarchy of the church.

In other words, first you say everyone (by the reformation) has access to the word of God, then you admit that you cannot be depended upon to know His word because you have not been recognized as a theologian by the hierarchy of your faith. I may not have your points exactly right, Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja – “Srila Gurudeva’s Biography (I)”

Sep 18, 2017

All glory to Sri Sri Guru Gauranga

Dear Giri Maharaj,

Please accept my obeisances. I hope this finds Your Holiness very well. I am currently with our devotees at Villa Govinda Ashram in Italy.

I am just writing a note to express my deep appreciation for the wonderful service you and your team are doing in steadily uploading so many hundreds of invaluable audio and video recordings of Srila Gurudev and Param Guru Maharaj. I have found some recordings there which seem to have been lost from other archives.

Since I am writing I also would like to mention that I have been working on a biography of Srila Gurudev for several years now, based on what I have been able to collect from numerous recordings, articles, and the hearts of the devotees. The final work will be edited by Sripad Read More...

Srila Giri Maharaja “Reformation—the elephant in the room.”

Dear Mr. Deace,

Please accept my warm greetings.

I listened to your “Reformation” podcast hoping to gain some insight as to what all the kerfuffle was about between Catholics and Protestants. As happens with many of your disputations whereby you attempt to establish sola scriptura as the preeminent basis of faith, I marvel at how both you and Todd—who represented “the church” side of your mutual disputation—miss the elephant standing in the room.

The elephant that wreaks havoc with both your arguments is the guru or spiritual master, who may also be known by the term acharya (ācārya), who is recognized and accepted as the representative of the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

Ostensibly, both you and Todd accept Jesus as your guru. And yet when you argue over which Read More...
